Heads Up - Time4Change
A little random for a pic and intro but I couldn't think of anything and this post is a little heads up. If you are repping this fitted though, you should probably keep your head down. Your swag would have to be on Mars to make that hat fresh, Kanye level. BTW, I just capitalized Mars because its a place, wonder if thats right. Also, the fitted hats these day are so busy and loud in terms of graphics, color, and font, aren't they? I feel like you would have to build up to something like this Cubs hat. Red Sox have some insane ones too. I think I'll stay pretty close to home. Alright, lets get to the post/news.
We are going to be implementing some big changes within the next couple days. I wanted to clue you in on situation so you aren't freaked out when you end up at a new site with a new name. OK heres the deal. We use blogger or blogspot, same thing, to build our site. The layouts, comments, and most importantly the traffic being driven to blogger just isn't on par with Wordpress. We found this out the hard way.
(follow parentheses for analogy) We knew we had to move to Wordpress if we were going to expand and improve so thats what we are doing. Right now we get up to 500 hits a day (not much ass). We have some loyal readers who we love and depend on, but its pretty local because search engines dont really pick up any of bloggers key words (out of the game). When Nick and myself were at usss.wordpress.com we were getting a thousand hits a day (dece hookups) with less updates (less money), a weird name (funny haircut), no perknasty (no swag), and frankly no identity (style). That was also after only a few weeks. Wordpress keywords (girls) show up on google (bar) all day and people love to cluck them. Then if we put out good material (act like bf) hopefully you gain regular basis readers (relationship) instead of one time clickers (one night stands) from google (the bar). So we want to bring our local fanbase to the new blog using wordpress and bring this thing national, then global, then universal.
We also want to improve our layout. Using WP and having our own server will give us unlimited resources. We don't like the template here and they aren't very customizable. The space where we write is so thin that we can't even post normal sized youtubes. The comments are also sucky here. WP's comments are better. We have had guys like Gordie comment often now and some other people do. We all were talking about how we loved that you stepped it up G-Man. Even though it seems like nothing and only takes 30 secs, you have no idea how much that stuff means to us. We put in a good amount of hours and when we see comments and know people read, liked, or disliked a post it makes any effort worth it. (edit: I just went on a little rant right here about validation but I cut it and am pasting it as its own lil post) Comments really drive these kind of sites, but I'll stop hammering that point in a sec. I know the strong majority of you aren't looking to give back. You want to read, chuckle, and bounce, I am fully cool with that. But the people who are tight with us or really enjoy the site, those are the people I would love to hear from. Remember if you enjoy the blog then we enjoy that you enjoy it and we enjoy making it better, etc. Its really some cyclical hippie shit haha.
The last thing about the change is that that we bought this URL (www.whitekids...com) through blogger so they pwned us and we cant use it with our new server. Whats going to happen is we are going to change the name of our blog and buy a new url, problem solved. As far as coming up with a new name, we racked our brains really hard to come up with one. It was a war but we finally settled on something at 1am on Sun night. We wanted something that wasn't so long as wkftb. We wanted it to be more like a brand than a description or a phrase. We also wanted it to be appropriate, not be overly dramatic, and have a ring to it. I'll wait to tell you guys the new name for now but stay tuned.
Note: A little hint for the new name is that its only 9 characters long and its a mix of letters and numbers. Also the numbers represent a piece of clothing or accessory.
Actually, lets throw in a couple change themed musical youtubes. They just popped into the old dome because I like both. Kind of curious to see or know what you guys, and especially the blogfathers (and def the Kate-triarch) think of Daniel Merriweather. Thats the singer with Wale by the way, not the guy on the pats whos fast and strong but has a stone head and stone hands.
Stay tuned and keep reading, thanks everyone.

My opinion...I welcome change, I think that when you experiment a bit you just increase your odds of greater success in whatever your endeavor may be, instead of just being content with what you have. Also, I like idea of changing the name, and making it more of a brand.
ReplyDeleteThat D. Merriweather is nice...very solid, I am a fan of incorporating differeent insruments (i.e., the horns), rather than traditional bass, drums, and a six string.
Keep up the good work fellas, its always a good daily read.
