Mariah Fires Back at Em..
The best part is that I have more respect for this than I would have if Nick Cannon tried making a diss song. I bet Mariah felt the same way. "Uhh, Nick, I appreciate that you care, but just let me make the record."
"Ok, well can I at least say a few things on the track?"
"Umm, gee, uh, I already got Gucci Maine. Sorry."
Nick Cannon is a chooch. Mariah is on fiyahh:
Let us know what you think in the poll to the right.
Good looks to Balla on the find.

Yes, More Eminem

Gotta keep following him because he's in the news so much lately. Rap Radar had an exclusive interview with him on everything from Bruno to the rumors his hotel was broken into and hsi laptop stolen. Here is the short interview:
RR: Can you clear up the Bruno stunt at the MTV Awards? Was it staged or planned?
Eminem: Sacha called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards. I'm a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved with the gag.
If it wasn't planned the way you agreed to, do you hold MTV or Sacha responsible and will you take any kind of action?
I'm thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it. It had so many people going "nuts" so to speak. Everyone was blowing me up about it.
After you left the ceremony, where did you go?
After the ceremony I went back to my hotel and laughed uncontrollably for about 3 hours. Especially after I saw it on air.
There is a rumor that you hotel room was robbed and theives got 60K and your laptop while you were at ceremony. Is that true and if so what would someone find on your computer?
The only thing was that I lost a Nike watch that we were looking for. The rest it is made-up like half the other stuff out there.
How do you think the show with Jay went and how did it feel performing "Renegade" again?
I love performing with Jay. Its the third time we've done the song together live and its always fun. It was an honor to share the stage with him again and to work with his band.
Here is a vid of that performance with Jayz:

Bruno vs. Eminem: Fake or Real?
But now the raging question is: was it genuine or staged?
In case you haven't seen the video, basically, Bruno comes down from the ceiling, gives Em an assface, gets pulled off by Em's bodyguards and hangs there as a pissed-off looking Slim Shady swears and storms out. Here's the vid:
For a better quality clip (or if they pulled it again on YouTube, peep this one):
Now a few things have come out since, namely the head writer on the MTV awards show came out and said it was fake on his Tumblr. Scott Aukerman writes:
Yes, the Bruno/Eminem incident was staged. That’s all anyone wants to talk
about, so let’s get it out of the way. They rehearsed it at dress and yes, it
went as far as it did on the live show then. Okay, you can stop reading this
blog now!
But some people are still saying it's just the network helping Eminem save face. Other reports indicated that Cohen initially wanted Paris Hilton to be the "butt" of the joke, but she refused, Em took her place, but he didn't know just how naked Bruno was going to be.
Me? I think it was def staged. What sealed the deal was how calm his bodyguards/posse was. They didn't move until he told them. Think they'd do that normally? No chance. Plus they'd shufffffllllee Bruno, not just swing him around. Still, I enjoyed the stunt.

Cpl Memorial Day Links
This one is Eminem on Jimmy Kimmel. Pretty interesting, him talking about his album and how he's sober now. He also brought a bunch of down on their luck and out of work auto workers from Detroit to the show, paying their way. Like nice guy?

Relapse Part 2
Well, he did. And his name is fucking McNulty. Or, Dominic West from The Wire. First of all, how the F did these two get together? The parallels are uncanny. Both became famous for being one of the few white people in a black word. Both sometimes speak in accents foreign to them. And both are fuckkinnnn illllll.
Stay Wide Awake: Damn I’m loving this beat and hook. By the way I might be the most DUCCCKED up I’ve ever been on a Tuesday afternoon at 5pm in my life. I think the track is ill but damn….Wam can you put out something this good??? Really think you could….
Love this song. Second fav song of the CD so far. The baseline of the song reminds me of Clint Mansell’s Dead Reckoning, the song that plays at the end of Smokin’ Aces and before some sporting events. I’m beginning to like this album more and more as I listen on. It seems really well-thought out.
Old Time’s Sake: These guys have good chemistry together on a track. Whatever they do it just works….kinda like me and being ill. I like Dre getting on their first and rhyming a little bit, I wonder if Detox will hit stores before I turn 40.…time will tell.
Dre and Em reunited again. Let’s put it this way: it’s no Forgot About Dre. But then again, what is? I wonder if Dre even wrote any of these lyrics?
Must Be the Ganja: This was a different type of Eminem party song for some reason…..you don’t really hear him straight up talk about smoking “ganja” and that type of shit that much even on his last couple of Cds, I wonder why he switched up like this?
Must be why Jake asked me the name of this song 3 times. Must be why I saw 20-25 people scoop this CD during the 10 minutes I was standing by the Best Buy counter. Must be why we don’t have 9-5 jobs. Must be how Eminem can think of some of this shit. Must be why this song is fire.
Déjà vu: This is one of the songs I have no idea about going in…literally haven’t heard one thing about it and it makes it better. One of my least favorites so far to be honest….but I do have high standards of Em. I think at this point I feel like I’m waiting to hear the best track on the CD…nothing has pulled away as my favorite yet.
Took a little longer than expected to get this far because we took 20 to watch the “Suck It” videos below. Anyway, I like the déjà vu title with the whole Relapse theme. He mentions that he started using heavy when Proof died, which makes sense. Just straight popping off about sleeping pills and mints. I wonder if he’s still really sober or not. Does anyone know?
Beautiful: Whoa what is this…sounds ill right away. Em is most believable as a broke down dude…this sad and depressing flow suits him for some reason, and I think he always kills this slower shit. The beat has me hooked and him singing the chorus is risky but definitely works in this one. Bottom line, very good song.
Glad I chose not to listen to this song when it was leaked. Because this was a little surprise treat that I didn’t expect. I was waiting for his slow jam, his “Hailie’s Song” or “Spend Some Time.” This is it. I love when Em does slow stuff for some reason. His flow is real and he normally -- as is the case with all three of those songs – producers them himself.
Crack a Bottle: We have all heard this one before, it was the first and most leaked and all that…..I would definitely say it’s catchy and I guess you can’t go that wrong with Em, Dre, and 50...no matter where they are in their careers right now does not take away from the fact that they were all GIANTS at one point in the game. Good choice for a 1st single I guess, but nothing that blows me away.
The very first single off the album. 50 and Dre are good. It still holds its own but, I’ll admit we didn’t listen to the whole thing.
Underground/Ken Kaniff: Eminem closing the CD with some hate type music….I think this song is really ill lyrically, he killed it a couple times. Anytime he spouts of like this I’m a fan, it’s usually when he’s at his best no matter what he is talking about.
LOVE the traditional “A lot of people ask me…” The beat and chorus are pretty epic, which I’m always a fan off. Nice strong ending. Meanwhile, I’m fading hard at this point as we approach 7 p.m. You just can’t go this long in the day without a lil nap. And I still have to go out tonight? Really? Well, at least I got this CD to slam when I come back to.
Oh, and the return of Ken Kaniff is priceless. Wooo, Perkinssss boyyyyyyyyy.

Relapse Part I
“Not gonna lie, I can't wait to squad up with Jake and mall trip that day. I see
an ill treat and a Mary Lou's treat in the future. Hot spring day, with the sun
out and birds chirping, and I swing into Best Buy to cop the album of the
summer. Ahhhh....”
That’s pretty much how it went down – except better. Instead of Marylou’s we got Domino’s (the product of a free medium coupon that came with a Role Models purchase at BB). And instead of one Perkins, we got both brothers, as SP The Ghost took time out of his last day in EB to make a Best Buy trip with The Kids. We got a treat(s) plus some Twisted Treats and Coorsys.
We ended up on my back porch in The Rock. And call me Nickstrodamus because the sun is out -- it's hot as balls - and birds are blinging all around us. We knew, bro.
Yea, we don’t have (real) jobs. Make fun of us…but we know you’re jealous.
So here's Part I of a running diary of Jake and Nick's first thoughts on Relapse. Song by song, you get em as we listen to the album. Comments are color coded. Part II later.
3 AM: I know that we had this one on here a while ago so I have heard it, but damn I’m feeling it. This was the track that leaked out that gave me some hope that this album would be good…It also sets the tone for the way he raps the rest of the album.
One of the 3-4 songs we’ve heard a bunch of times before the album dropped. It reminds me of “Kill You” from Marshall Mathers LP, in the sense that all he talks about is, well, killing. And they were both track 2. I feel like Eminem does that sometimes. Remember when track 13 was always a song with the same girl? Guy knows the formula.
My Mom: Eminem talking about drugs and his mom….shit I feel like I’m in high school again. No matter how weird this chorus is I still think his flow is incredible no matter what he has to say. It’s just how I feel about his skills, so read the rest of this knowing that.
One of Em’s opening lines is “I know you’re tired of hearing about my mom.” And well, yea, we kinda are. But as the first song that I haven’t heard, it’s solid. The beat is unmistakably Dre and the chorus is pretty catchy. Little Heath Ledger too soon action in here. That weird accent he does starts to piss me off though. Not his best but not terrible.
Insane: Alright right away he is saying absurddddd shit. I know that you can’t take him serious really in any songs but shit, was there any message to this song? This is Em ripping it though, aggressive and spitting violent.
Woooo…this risky ass song. I kinda love it. This is Exhibit A in the case that Eminem has gone completely and utterly insane. And yes, that’s the title of the song, a fact that dawned on me as I finished typing that sentence (honestly). His flow is rugged, I feel like he’s literally spitting here, like saliva is all over the mic. The sick flow overrides the sometimes queasy lyrics.
Bagpipes from Baghdad: I heard about the controversy over this song with Nick Cannon a week or two ago but this is my first time hearing it. I honestly laughed out loud a couple times at the lyrics…Nick Cannon, you going at Eminem is like me going at Eminem, your basically a nobody man. Stay on your on level….. the best shit you ever did was Wild’n Out and didn’t that shit get cancelled? But yeah…I was feeling this one too. (That Domino’s was fiiiyahhhhh…best I’ve ever had maybe…Woooo The Kidddddd).
The Nick Cannon song. With a lil Middle Eastern riff, I like this song mostly because of Nick Cannon’s response.
Me: Is there a bigger chooch than Nick Cannon?
Jake, too inebriated at 3:20 in the afternoon to speak words: (shakes head affirmatively)
He’s a Nickelodeon chooch better served to be going after Lizzy McGuire than Eminem.
Hello: From the first chorus I knew that this would be one of my favorite’s on this CD….there was a little doubt up to this point, but I can now say that Eminem/Slim Shady are F*ng backkkkkk. The flow and lyrics are on point here, get Emmmmmmmmm.
Eassssillllyyy my favorite song on the CD so far. I love songs that within 20 seconds into them you know you’re going to love it. The beat is chronic. His flow is crisp. “My name is…Shaddddyyy” kills it. It’s only Track 6, but this is the early favorite for Song of the CD. One of the great nuances of Eminem’s songs is that they can usually be played at a party or just chilling and they work just as effectively in both settings. This is definitely the case with this jam.
Same Song & Dance: Is Tonya the new Kim song? The theme is obviously dark just like in “Kim” of the Marshall Mathers LP, but there is something in this one that changes up and makes it more catchy….probably because he mentions Lindsay and Britney. I’m starting to feel like he’s going in and out of personalities/voices in the SAME song…dude is crazy.
I wasn’t really feeling this song until the Lindsay Lohan jokes. No matter the era, it doesn’t get much better than Eminem shitting on the popular pop icons at the time. And the best part is he’s so huge that you know they’ll hear it.
We Made You: Shiiitttttt this song grew on me so hard. I hated it at first for an “Eminem Single,” because just like everyone else I wanted him to come out swingginggggg with some serious and violent shit. But what I’m saying is I have started to like this song, you gotta take it for what it is really. It’s Eminem shitting on whoever he wants and being a clown…I still sing the shit out of the chorus out loud now when I hear it, give it a chance before you skip it on the CD.
I don’t care what anyone says, this song is a beast. Started to slowly creep into all corners of my life recently – no matter where I go I hear it. It’s a typical Eminem single, yes, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Catchy as ever (were the ones who made youuuuu), this addictive jam will have you humming in the shower…the car..the post office…at funerals…during the National Anthem...you get the idea.
Meanwhile, I could use a nap at this point. I did get up at 9, you know.
Medicine Ball: Em comes right out of the gates aggressive and gritty on this one. For some reason the second time I heard it I almost compared it to the “Soldier” track on the Eminem Show….it’s something really about the beat and him rhyming fierce. (If you can’t see it start saying “I’m a solder” just like that chorus at the end of the beat…you will figure it out…btw listen to that song right now because we are and it‘s F*cking inredible.). And shittt he won’t let Christopher Reeves go huh…
We had to rewind this one. He literally uses the same rhyme scheme (esta) the whole first verse. The entire thing. Who even know there were that many words with that sound? This is why even if he’s crazy, and even sometimes corny, Em is more talented than anyone in the game.

Music Monday Part 1
In fact I wanna give a shut out to my boy Barty from Missouri because he was back in the area this weekend and hit me up to offer me a nice copy of Em's album Relapse...so good looks. BUT, I had to say no. Maybe it was because I was too hungover from the night before....or maybe I want next Tuesday to be an event of some kind...but anyways...here is another song of the upcoming Relapse album.
Eminem - "My Mom"
Lil Wayne - "Trigger Man"
On the full version of this song Madonna is supposed be on there for the hook I believe...should be fiyyahhhh.
I'll be back with Part 2 later tonight....

The Transformation of Slim Shady

In some ways, the title in itself is ironic. The chorus, which says, “I said one more time for old time’s sake,” is eerily reminiscent of the tone of the songs we’ve heard thus far.
Whether it’s “We Made You,” “3 AM” or “Old Time’s Sake,” there hasn’t been a great statement single from Eminem yet. In fact, it just seems like Relapse has been done for the sole purpose of old time’s sake.
I am an enormous Eminem fan. I’ve heard all the songs and memorized all the lyrics. I’ve listened to the new stuff so many times I already feel like I own the CD. But the truth is – and it’s hard for me to admit this – I’m just not that impressed.
And like I said, it’s not like it’s bad. In fact, the lyrics and beats are good. What they aren’t, however, is great.
Like it or not, if you’re an Eminem fan, you hold his material to a higher standard. He was one of the few people who said the things we didn’t have the courage to say. He was the first one who came out and said out loud that moms can be whack. He was the first one who stepped up for all the “scrawny white kids” and rapped about coming back to kick bully’s asses.
He rapped about killing his girlfriend, raping his mother, giving a girl too many shrooms and destroying the Insane Clown Posse. He hated Limp Bizkit and *N Sync and George W. Bush. In other words, he was every young white American. The difference was he spoke out against all the B.S. we see on an everyday basis. But he did it in a creative, tongue-and-cheek manner that made everyone love him and hate him at once.
The truth is, however, times have changed. When Eminem first rose to fame, I was in 8th grade. It was 1998 – and everything was different. The biggest scandal at the time was Bill Clinton getting head under the table from Monica Lewinsky. The economy was doing well, the internet was booming, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were “organically” hitting 500 foot homers and chasing Roger Maris.
Things were good, right?

Eminem set out to show you the dark side when everything else told you different. He opened a lot of young people’s minds and gave you music to “trash you room with.” He was 24 years old and his middle finger wouldn’t go down (how can I wave?). He just didn’t give a f**k. And we all loved it.
But as you look at the above paragraph, the only number that matters is 24. His gimmick was a young man’s gimmick; but the pattern of excellent rhyming, creative beats and ever-changing viewpoints gave him consistent credibility.
The scheme, as it were, was excruciatingly simple. Song number one was always the quirky, upbeat, make-fun-of-celebrities rhymefest with a catchy chorus. It would get overplayed on the radio, but the video always made up for overkill on your favorite hip-hop station.
Strategically, it made perfect sense. It brought him back into the fold with something guys could appreciate and girls would love. Then, he would win all his male fans over with his second song (think Guilty Conscience, The Way I Am, Cleaning Out My Closet, Like Toy Soldiers) and display his great rhyming capabilities along with a more violent theme.
Finally, with his third single, he’d usually step out on a limb. However, by this point, he usually didn’t even have to make another video. His album was already out in stores and selling huge amounts of copies. It was just a bonus.
However, with this album, the times – and Eminem – are different. With the new digital age, he’s pressured to force singles every week until the album’s release. And, as much as we all may hate to admit it, he’s rusty.
He’s stuck with the formula this time, but unfortunately for him, the formula is tired. “We Made You” is a pretty good song, if you ask me. I like the beat and the chorus, but I just have no idea which area it appeals to. It sounds like something you would put in a trippy drug scene in a movie, but certainly not something I’d play at a party to get it hoppin’.
“3 a.m.” is a decent song, but again, it’s not “The Way I Am.” Eminem as a murderer has been done again and again and again. Even “Old Time’s Sake” – Eminem and Dre passing the mic back and forth in a jovial pursuit of rapping excellence – seems contrived.
The one thing I personally always loved about Eminem was how he rose to the occasion. It seemed like in every album he tried to step out of the box. Even “Encore,” which probably sold more albums than it deserved, was a step in a different direction for the white rapper. In songs like “Evil Deeds,” “Yellow Brick Road,” “Like Toy Soldiers,” and “Mockingbird,” he tried to seemingly grow up and be an adult in his record. In some ways, “Encore” would have been a fitting end to his musical career.
But why was it worse? My personal theory – and I’m always one to dish out the blame to those who I don’t respect – is 50 Cent had a devastatingly negative effect on Eminem’s career. In my opinion, the signing of 50 Cent sent Em in a direction he never had to go. He tried to become a gangster and lost his sense of individuality.
If you think about it, the difference between Eminem on “Renegade” and “Smack That” is mind-boggling. It’s hard to believe it’s even the same guy. When he put “The Re-up” out, the first single was with 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks and Ca$his. It was a good song, but it wasn’t Eminem. He had become something entirely different.

The hunger just didn’t seem to be there. And now, on “Relapse,” the tracks seem to lack the same drive they used to have. It’s not just the accent (which clearly doesn’t help) – it’s the way it’s done. The beats are crisp, the choruses are OK, but it’s the verses.
Where’re the quotables? Think about the “Marshall Mathers LP.” All the memorable lines from the CD wrapped into a tight, 18-track CD that had every fan screaming for more. The new CD has us wondering what he even has left.
Even more than that, I think the departure to the post-50 Cent era has him dying to bring back Slim Shady. And this is where I think he loses it. The Slim Shady personality is the one who murders people and shits on celebrities and screaming “I don’t give a f**k” with his windows down and his system up.
But he’s just not Slim Shady anymore. And that’s the disconnect so far on Relapse. In the “Eminem Show” and “Encore,” he was Eminem or Marshall Mathers or whoever. But he wasn’t Slim Shady. And I think by trying to bring him back at an older age, it just seems, for whatever reason, not as real as it used to be.
It’s just hard to believe a 36-year-old is trying to nail Sarah Palin or is accidentally murdering people at 3 a.m. Unless, of course, they’re actually crazy. The tongue-in-cheek aspect is so much harder to pull off at his age.
So if you think about the album – the tracklist leaked last week – there’s 20 songs. You’ve now heard four of them (“Crack a Bottle” is on the CD as well) and “Beautiful,” the fifth single, leaks next Monday.
There’s also four skits on the CD (“Dr. West,” “Tonya,” “Paul” and “Steve Berman”). By the time the album comes out, you’ll have heard one-third of the songs on the record. I have no idea what kind of track “Beautiful” is, but my guess is it might be something about his daughter.
Not exciting.
So he essentially has 11 more tracks on the record to bring back the same excellence we’re used to. I never ever thought I’d say this, but I’m almost scared to hear what they sound like. For all the time and emotional investment I’ve had waiting for “Relapse,” I wanted it to be the old Eminem.
And there’s a chance it might be. But there’s also a frightening, nerve-wracking chance it might not be.
Am I still excited for the album? Absolutely. But do I expect greatness from Eminem anymore? No. He’s just not the same guy.

Slim Shady

Anyway, Aftermath already took down all the YouTubes and Limelx links so I can't emebed it. But you can still listen to it right here. Enjoy.
And throw up what you think as a comment. The last time we did this we got some good feedback, most likely because like it or not, Eminem is pretty much the biggest artist of our generation.
Also, on Aftermath's website, you can enter to win a trip to Eminem's release party in Detroit. ("Fuck that. I'm done with rap, I'm sorry/But Eminem this is your record release party!").
One more Em tidbit. He was on his station, Shade45, yesterday morning and had a few things to regarding his CD and the single "We Made You."
I'll quote the Detroit Free Press:
"In the interview, Em says “Relapse” is produced exclusively by Dr. Dre (except Em coproduced the lead single “We Made You” with him and did one other track himself), “Relapse 2” will be out at the end of the year as rumored, and the state of rap is getting back to a good place again, 'Because I’m back.'"
Wish he said the kid was back. And this on the single:
"And for fans who aren’t feeling the new single “We Made You,” Eminem says the rest of “Relapse” will have a different feel than the celebrity-mocking chart-blazer."
Oh, you're probably thinking, "Why do they call 'We Made You' a chart-blazer? Well, because it opened at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart -- the HIGHEST any of his songs has ever debuted. 'Splain that. Tons of hype for this CD.
He also did confirm that Relapse 2 will indeed come out this fall. Wow.
Listen to audio portions of Em's interview here.
(Sorry this post was a bit rushed and sloppy. Just wanted to get something up before the end of the day. Also, shout out to my man Flum for most of the Em stuff. Kid's XXL and I'm not just talking about his weight gain. Woo.)

Brand New Eminem Song
Anyway, comment with what you think of the single. As of now I'm undecided:

Music Monday Part 1
As some of you may know (I'm pretty sure Nick said something about it on here recently) Eminem's album Relapse is scheduled for relase May 19th. What I did not know was the following taken from MTV News:
"Eminem's Relapse Set For May ReleaseSecond album, Relapse 2, will drop later in the year.
By Shaheem Reid
"Does Eminem know how to make a comeback or does he know how to make a comeback? He's giving his patient fans more than what they bargained for. Interscope Records announced Thursday (March 5) that Slim Shady is dropping two albums this year, Relapse and Relapse 2.
The first LP has been slated for May 19, with a single and video premiering on radio and television airwaves on April 7. It sounds like this record will be in addition to "Crack a Bottle," which has already gone #1. The video for that hit should drop soon.
Relapse 2 doesn't have a release date yet, but in a statement, Em said that he's currently in the studio working on that project and it will come out in the second half of this year.
"A lot of people were expecting Relapse to drop last year," Eminem said in the press release. "I was one of them. Then Dre and I went back in the studio in September for a few days, and that turned into six months. We were on such a roll; we wound up with a ton of new music produced by Dre. Putting out Relapse 2 will let everyone get all of the best stuff."
It's been more than four years since Em's last solo LP, Encore. Verses, let alone full songs, from the acclaimed star have been sparse. Last year, Em dropped a freestyle called "I'm Having a Relapse" while promoting his autobiography, "Eminem: The Way I Am." The rhymes were crisp and let everyone know he wasn't missing a step.
Besides re-emerging as an artist, the Detroit rap legend will have his hands full as an executive this year. 50 Cent told MTV News last week that he plans to put out his Before I Self Destruct album this summer on the heels of Relapse. 50 said he was waiting for Dr. Dre to finish up with Em so they could complete work on Self Destruct.
Interscope didn't clarify what the announcement of Relapse 2 might mean for the release of Dre's upcoming Detox. Several unfinished tracks from Dre's record have leaked over the past few weeks. A handful of the bootlegged songs feature T.I. referencing vocals for the Doc.
While May 19 was also the last scheduled release date for Lil Wayne's rock-oriented Rebirth album, a label spokesperson told MTV News on Thursday that the album was recently moved to "TBD."
So there you have it folks...Relapse 2 will be on the way in 2009 as well. Also interesting that Lil Wayne switched up his album release date. Em and Weezy competing in the same week isn't something either side wants im sure.
