Cutler To Da Bears

You probably heard already, but I wanted to throw my 2cents in. Denver traded Jay Cutler to Chicago for Kyle Orton, 2 first rounders, and a 3rd rounder. A pretty insane price but Im saying its worth it. Cutler is a machine and there are about 5 good QB's on the planet. If you have one you just auto have a shot to win every year. McDaniels comes into town and pisses off then trades the franchise, jesus. The Broncos are gonna suck now unless they get incred lucky and find a QB.

Stafford will probably go number 1 and I think hes trash. JaMarcus Russell makes as much as Brady. Kyle Boller was a first round pick, etc. Finding a good quarterback is legit the hardest position to fill in pro sports. Cutler is young and has a chance to be great. Da Bears get their first good QB since Sid Luckman, ha.

Who are the best young QB's right now? Who is at the top once Brady and Manning leave us in the future? Right now I think Cutler, Matt Ryan, and Aaron Rodgers are the next group of stars. Thats literally all of them. Maybe Flacco, Jason Campbell is meh, Schaub is OK, maybe Cassell. Bottom line is good quarterbacks are rare. By the way, the price Chicago paid does make it look like we shipped Casselbeck for cheap doesn't it? Hes not Cutler but we received less than half of what Denver did. Whatever though, Pats rule.

Watch out for Chicago next year, seriously. They have a good defense, Hester is improving at WR, a good RB in Forte, and now a pro bowl QB. And Oh yea, they play in the NFC. Only thing that sucks for Cutty is that he doesn't have anyone close to Brandon Marshall's ilk to sling it to.

One thing the scouts note about Cutler besides the fact that he has one of the strongest arms in NFL history is that hes great throwing to backs in the flats and throwing off play action and bootlegs. Thats a nice thing to hear when you have one of the better pass catching RB's in Forte on your squad. Cutler likes throwing to the TE's and that should be a strength in Chi town. They can run a lot of that 2 TE set with Olsen and Desmond Clark now, that set also happens to be a terror for the 3-4 which is so "in" right now. They should sign Big Game Torry Holt and call it a day. Maybe even scoop Dante Stallworth there? He would run over defenses and kill it, would be trouble though and could handcuff the salary cap.

Denver is going to saaack next year. Shanahan is gone and that team looks like trash. You don't get that much time as a young head coach if you are losing these days. I think McD made a huge mistake. Hes fired after the 2010 season at the latest. Denver get a ton of good picks but their D is terrible, they didn't have a run game last year, and now the 25 yr old franchise player is gone. They will be the Chiefs next year, aka bad. They have Champ, Marshall, and Royal, not much else.

Sorry for such a traditional post. I just wanted to weigh in on a big move. Probably won't be much more football coverage, besides the draft, for a while. Oh yea speaking of the draft Clay Matthews and Brian Cushing, both first round projected LB's from USC, tested positive for juice. Rumors for the Raji test is that it was weed.

  2. It occurred to me on my drive in from work that it might be too soon for me to be laughing at that Stallworth thing....might be too soon.

  3. its pretty ridic. i snuck it in there and felt like 10% bad. but i heard that someone gets killed on that highway literally almost every single day. i guess the cops dont even get phased by it. that shift is basically the road kill cleanup duty and im not even trying to be funny, really heard that.

  4. The Stallworth comment was gold. I disagree with how good Cutler is considering Denver went 8-8 and were 17-20 with him as a starter. I know the defense sucked but I think that counters the point about a great qb automatically making you really good. I'd also say Phil Rivers is near the top even though I despise him. Basically I don't care about this trade at all it just sucked to see because it proves Bill got hosed in the Cassell trade. Would the Bears rather have traded all of that for Cutler or maybe one first and one third for Cassell? I def. think they would have scooped Cassell for a 1 and a 3. Love the Pats but they got bent over by Pioli.

  5. My point is 8-8 is your floor with a good QB. Denver had nothing good besides wideouts. The defense was terrible and so was the run game. Yet they still won 8 games.

  6. Ya, I def. agree with you that with Orton or Dirty Sanchez they're probably a 4-5 win team. This is Chris Donovan (EB class of 06) Not trying to leave anonymous bombs and hide behind them but I haven't made a name yet.
