Congrats to Jim Ed Rice

I felt like the Kids should atleast mention Jim Ed's hall of fame election. He was just before our era but that doesn't mean we don't appreciate him. Rice was sluggin balls for the Sox for 16 years. He has an MVP award, 2 silver sluggers, and was an 8 time all star. Rice was the last leg in the Fenway Left Field holy trinity. I just made that name up but when Rice took over LF he had to replace a hall of famer in Yaz, who himself had to replace the greatest hitter of all time in Teddy Ballgame. So when Rice got elected yesterday, it meant that the Red Sox had a hall of famer playing in front of the monster for the better part of 50 years. (Then again from 2001-2007).

Everyone knew the hall of vote was going to be close but he got enough because noone wanted to be known as the guy that kept Rice out of the hall if he missed it by 1 or 2 votes. Rice still has those crazy eyes. If he missed it by one vote, he most likely would have tracked down the writer who kept him off, beat him to death with a louisville, and then Denzel would have put on the glasses played him in the biopic Jim Rice Story. Rice deserved it and it took too long to get him in as it is. He acted like it didn't bother him but it really did mean a lot. Rice didn't suck up to the sports writers and they left him in the waiting room 15 years because of it. Rock on Jim Rice, Rock on.

  1. Rice definitely deserves this, he was the most feared hitter in baseball for 10 years, then dropped off because of an eye condition. I think the end of the steroid era really helped his cause because his numbers began to look alot better once people realized guys like Brady Anderson shouldn't be hitting 50 plus home runs in a season.
