Boston Blog Blazers: Week 2

From our field correspondent Joe Masley:

"Happy Sunday out there to all you legends reading the blog… today is my big debut writing on the blog and I’ve been preparing for weeks…. if you don’t like my article, you can suck it, so here we goo…Last night saw a big win at the Gahhden as your home town Boston Blazers took down the Wings from Beantown’s second favorite city to hate, dirty Philly.

Pregame festivities witnessed a solid crew of myself, Dobson and Vona going to the area’s best pregame spot, that’s right, you guessed it….Halftime Pizza. Seriously, where else can you get just pizza and beer, I mean, that’s their staple, 25 oz beers or whatever the hell they are for like 4 bucks…unreal deal of the century and not to mention I could eat an entire pizza without hesitation it’s so freakin good. But anyways, to the game. As was probably obvious, the hometown crowd was not as big as opening night when they were legit giving away free tickets to everyone on the street. Some scalper was trying to sell tickets for 20 bucks and us, being the retards we are, start yelling “You’re being robbed, you can get season tickets for 40”… obviously this did not please the scalper and he proceeded chase us and his potential customers we saved all the way to the doors.

If any of you are unaware, Jake, Jared and myself are proud season ticket holders in the “Ring of Fire” – the creative attempt of the Blazers marketing staff to make us think the balcony is where all the legends are. But clearly with the lack of fans our crew last night sniped some legit seats in the loge. Dobson made a great point, there were so many groups of just smokin hot girls and no guys…maybe they left their boyfriends at home? Maybe they were lacrosse groupies? Maybe me Dobson and Vona brought a group home?....yeah that didn’t happen, story of my fucking life. But asides from analyzing the intense play going on, analyzing nice bums was also a notch in the awesome column….if any of you out there wondering, yes I still have the mind of a 16 year old…..

Apparently on Friday night after the Blazers beat down on Philly 13-11 in the City of Brotherly Love, they had a fight on the plane that both teams were taking on the way back, so you knew this was gunna be a battle. (Jake is editing this now and does not believe it for one second, the NLL or whatever the F this league is called is using cheep WWE tricks to try and fool the fans....apparently it worked on Joe).

The passing this game was much better than last week and the Blazers were up 5-0 early. However, Philly came back big and scored a flurry of unanswered goals to get the game back to where were saying, wow the Blazers suck and the game stayed close at 8-7 with just under 6 minutes to play in the 4th quarter. However, resident sniper/legend/team captain Dan Dawson and standout Darly Veltman made sure that the Blazers would “get that ball”…(sidenote…the one hilarious and awful part of the game was at every face off the announcer would chant ‘get that ball…get that ball…come on blazers fans let me hear you…get that ball…”) The Blazers “got that ball”- yeah I know, clichĂ©, not funny, go F yourself – and sealed the win with 4 more bingos to end the match at 11-4. There were only a few small fights unfortunately and no viciously unreal and awesome hits like Mitch Belisle’s bundling of a New York Titan last week

In all seriousness this was a big win for the Blazers. This marked their first home sweep as a franchise and second win on the year, giving the Blazes an overall record of 2-2…500 isn’t bad for this early in the season but they definitely will have to bring the same intensity and not blow a 5-0 lead next week when they take on the Portland Lumberjacks…yes there will be another home game on the 31st, so if you’re looking for some fun and adolescent male antics, meet us at Halfway Pizza around 6, game starts at 7:30…maybe afterwards we can go ying a few stews and watch Eddie B karate chop the bar staff at Hennesy’s like last weekend… Go Blazers and GET FIRED UP! Sorry, had to say that…. "
