Race Wars - Marquette vs ND

[Warning: This post contains racial stereotypes that were used for comedic purposes. Please don't take the black and white generalizations serious. Thank you.]

Did anyone catch that race war last night in South Bend as no.8 Marquette handed no.23 ND their 2nd straight home loss? I turned that on and was like um please look at the white guys vs the black guys on tv right now. I mean there was one or two tokens on each team, but thats it. The interesting aspect about the game was that it was playing out exactly how The Official Racism Manual chapter on stereotypes said it should. It was more or less athleticism and slashing versus grit and shooting.

Jerel McNeal led Marquette with 27 and hit a big three late. Luke Harangody, who is an anomaly in himself, played very well in the loss with 27 and 17 boards. Kyle McAlarney didn't bring his normal sharpshooting swag though, which is something the Irish need in order to beat a top 10 team or if they plan on making a run in March. Notre Dame probably lost the game before tip off though. I mean just look at the mascots. We know all about Golden Eagles and judging from the Youtube's in that link, they could probably kill a leprechaun without ruffling a single feather. I don't care if how hard he was fighting, the Irish guy is getting eaten or dropped off a cliff.

Mascots aside though, this game also eerily mirrored another fairly well known competition between an African descendant and an Irishman. Like Obama vs McCain, the darker skinned side was a little too quick on their feet and hard to defend this time even though the other side was rich in tradition and the game was played in their own backyard.

Side note: Harangody and McAlarney are fun to watch. Harangody is an effin bulldozer with an unorthodox but dominant herky jerky game. Hes a double double machine. The guy rips boards and swishes hideous looking turnaround hook shots all the way out to the top of the key, haha. Poor guy will make a terrible NBA player but he is a great beast in college so watch him while you can. McAlarney on the other hand is a pretty boy. Now get ready for about the 7th risky comparison in this post, but McAlarney is like a combination of Gerry McNamara and JJ Redick. McNamara for the the McPoint guard with a similar game but Redick for the prolific shooting ability. McAlarney actually is shooting threes at a better clip than Redick did in college. I hate the white guy to white guy comparisons in sports but I just became guilty of it, whatever, it really works for me. I pretty much just listed off four guys who are white, undersized, and 1000x better college players than they ever will be in the pros, but all I wanted to get across is that McAlarney and Harangody are entertaining to watch so check out ND if you scan by them on espn.
