Affliction - Uh, Fedor Is Good

We just got done watching the Affliction fight card and D-Lau got the win against his replacement fighter Bobby Green. Green actually pushed the pace and it seemed like Danny was uncomfortable but it was only a matter of time before the better fighter caught Green with something. That something ended up being a rear naked choke shortly after it hit the ground at the end of a long round one. It was a long round because Green hit Danny with three shots to the nuts that called for a stoppage so he could recover. It was pretty bizarre. The doctor even asked Danny if he could continue, Danny said he could which was honorable considering Im pretty sure he could have gotten a quick cheap win and he didn't take it. It was a victory for the good guys though so congrats Dan, and throw some ice on those nuts.

The highlight of the card though was either Belfort knocking Matt Lindland into 1988, or the continued dominance of Fedor Emelianenko. Lets talk about the ladder for a minute. I don't think I had ever actually seen Fedor fight live before this, but it was more of the same. The same as in someone getting disposed of, quickly. For those of you who still don't know Fedor, he is the undisputed best mixed martial artist on the planet. He is unassuming in stature but noone has found a weakness in his game, if there even is one. Arlovski looked big and explosive tonight but Fedor's unorthodox striking is so accurate and explosive that Arlovski was out cold shortly after charging Fedor with a flying knee. Arlovski elevated and Fedor didn't even really load up, he just put an overhand right hand into Andre's chin for the KO.

So whats next for Fedor? Well Affliction better know that the UFC could offer a large sum of money to Fedor if he would consider switching to the UFC. As it is now, Fedor will probably fight Josh Barnett with Affliction next. That fight will have very little draw though because it only serves as another 10 seconds on a Fedor highlight clip. Barnett will get worked. With how Mir worked Nog recently and Brock Lesnar improving. The most interesting thing would be to pin Fedor against the winner of that UFC heavyweight title fight, but noone knows how that will play out yet.

You might want to watch this special they did of Fedor on FSN the other night. There are 7 parts and this is the first one. The other parts aren't hard to find and its really good. First couple are about his training so go to the third one if you dont really care about that.

Part 3 - In the ring. "I honestly thought we saw the first death in MMA"
