But now the raging question is: was it genuine or staged?
In case you haven't seen the video, basically, Bruno comes down from the ceiling, gives Em an assface, gets pulled off by Em's bodyguards and hangs there as a pissed-off looking Slim Shady swears and storms out. Here's the vid:
For a better quality clip (or if they pulled it again on YouTube, peep this one):
Now a few things have come out since, namely the head writer on the MTV awards show came out and said it was fake on his Tumblr. Scott Aukerman writes:
Yes, the Bruno/Eminem incident was staged. That’s all anyone wants to talk
about, so let’s get it out of the way. They rehearsed it at dress and yes, it
went as far as it did on the live show then. Okay, you can stop reading this
blog now!
But some people are still saying it's just the network helping Eminem save face. Other reports indicated that Cohen initially wanted Paris Hilton to be the "butt" of the joke, but she refused, Em took her place, but he didn't know just how naked Bruno was going to be.
Me? I think it was def staged. What sealed the deal was how calm his bodyguards/posse was. They didn't move until he told them. Think they'd do that normally? No chance. Plus they'd shufffffllllee Bruno, not just swing him around. Still, I enjoyed the stunt.
